Chinese Premier Li Qiang Stresses Innovation and Green Development on Gansu, Qinghai Visit

Beijing ;Chinese Premier Li Qiang has underscored the importance of innovation-driven growth and green development to accelerate the building of a modern industrial system tailored to regional strengths.

During a two-day inspection tour of northwest China’s Gansu and Qinghai provinces from Monday to Tuesday, Li highlighted the need to leverage local characteristics and advantages to foster sustainable development.

In Lanzhou, Gansu Province, Li visited a high-tech company and an industrial park. He emphasized the importance of staying aligned with global technological frontiers, supporting enterprises and research institutions to boost research and development (R&D) investment, and enhancing mechanisms for talent cultivation.

The premier also inspected afforestation and ecological protection efforts along the Lanzhou section of the Yellow River. Praising local achievements in ecological restoration, he urged a comprehensive, systematic approach to conserving mountains, rivers, forests, farmland, grasslands, and desert ecosystems.

Li called for stronger efforts to safeguard and expand China’s ecological achievements, aiming to preserve the country’s “hard-won green legacy” for future generations.
