Asia Cup: Pakistan Defeats Bangladesh, Qualifies for the Final

Dubai: Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 11 runs to qualify for the final.

The final match between Pakistan and India will be played on Sunday, September 28.

In the Asia Cup final, Pakistan and India will face each other after 41 years.

Chasing Pakistan’s target of 136 runs, Bangladesh could only score 107 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs.

For Bangladesh, Shamim Hussain scored 30, Saif Hassan 18, Nurul Hassan 16, Mehidy Hasan 11, Zakir Ali 5, Tanzim Hasan 10, and Taskin Ahmed 4 runs.

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf took three wickets each, Saim Ayub picked up 2, while Mohammad Nawaz claimed 1 wicket.

Earlier, in the absence of Bangladesh captain Liton Das, stand-in skipper Zakir Ali won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Batting first, Pakistan scored 135 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Haris was the top scorer with 31 runs.

Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan opened the innings for Pakistan, but Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed for 4 runs with the team’s total at just 4. Saim Ayub was out for a duck.

At the score of 29, Fakhar Zaman also departed after scoring 13 runs.

Hussain Talat made only 3 runs, while captain Salman Ali Agha’s resistance ended at 19 runs. Shaheen Afridi contributed 19 runs off 13 balls.

Mohammad Haris scored 31 off 23 balls before being caught, Mohammad Nawaz added 25, while Faheem Ashraf (14) and Haris Rauf (3) remained unbeaten.

For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed took 3 wickets, while Rashad Hussain and Mehidy Hasan claimed two wickets each.
