Islamabad: Jordan’s King Abdullah II was accorded a warm and dignified welcome upon his arrival at the Prime Minister House, where Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received him with cordial greetings. The two leaders shook hands warmly, reflecting the friendly relations between the two countries.
A formal reception ceremony was held in honor of King Abdullah II on Saturday, during which the national anthems of both nations were played.
A smartly dressed contingent of Pakistan’s armed forces presented a guard of honor to the Jordanian King, who inspected the guard with great interest. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif introduced members of the federal cabinet to King Abdullah II, while the Jordanian monarch introduced his delegation to the Prime Minister.
King Abdullah II also planted a sapling on the lawn of the Prime Minister House as a symbol of goodwill.
Earlier, King Abdullah II arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
At the airport, he was welcomed by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Climate Change Musadik Malik, and Minister of State for Education Wajiha Qamar, along with senior officials.
The visit of King Abdullah II highlights the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Jordan and is expected to further strengthen bilateral political, economic, and cultural cooperation.
