Pakistan Condemns Washington DC Shooting, Terms It an Act of Terrorism

Islamabad: Pakistan has strongly condemned the shooting incident in Washington DC, reportedly involving an Afghan national, which resulted in the death of a U.S. soldier and injuries to others.

In a statement, Pakistan expressed heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of life and extended sympathies to the families of the victims as well as to the Government and people of the United States. The statement also wished the injured a swift and full recovery.

Calling the episode a “targeted terrorist attack” and a “heinous assault on United States soil,” Pakistan noted that it has faced similar acts of terrorism for over two decades, many of which have had clear linkages to Afghanistan. The incident, it added, underscores the growing threat of transnational terrorism.

Pakistan warned that the attack signals a troubling resurgence of terrorism globally and urged the international community to strengthen joint efforts in counter-terrorism. The country reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the United States and international partners to confront the shared challenge of terrorism.
