President Asif Ali Zardari Concludes Official Visit to China, Departs from Kashgar

Kashgar: President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari, concluded his official visit to China and departed for Pakistan from Kashi Laining International Airport in Kashgar today.

Mr. Ni Zhuang, Party Secretary of Kashgar and Vice Governor of Xinjiang, warmly saw off the President at the airport. Ambassadors of both countries and senior officials were also present on the occasion.

During his departure remarks, President Zardari extended heartfelt gratitude to the Chinese leadership for their gracious hospitality and the excellent arrangements made throughout his visit. He lauded the remarkable progress achieved by China, particularly in the Xinjiang region, under the visionary leadership of President Xi Jinping, describing it as a model of inclusive development and modernization.

The President emphasized that Pakistan attaches the highest importance to its “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” with China. He reaffirmed Islamabad’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Beijing in diverse sectors including trade, investment, connectivity, and cultural exchanges.

Highlighting his vision for greater regional integration, President Zardari expressed the hope that one day the people of Pakistan and China would be able to travel freely by road for tourism and commerce, deepening the centuries-old bonds of friendship between the two nations.

President Zardari’s visit to China included a series of high-level meetings and engagements in Urumqi and Kashgar. He witnessed the signing of multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistani and Chinese enterprises in areas such as livestock modernization, industrial cooperation, and green energy development.

In Kashgar, the President visited the historic Id Kah Mosque, underscoring the importance of cultural and civilizational linkages between the peoples of Pakistan and China. He also met with business leaders, including the CEO of Serene Air, encouraging greater private-sector participation in expanding Pakistan-China connectivity.

Throughout his visit, President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a central pillar of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and highlighted the importance of deepening cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.

The visit further consolidated the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership between Pakistan and China, reaffirming the shared vision of the two countries for peace, prosperity, and regional development.
