Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in view of the flood situation in the country, has directed power distribution companies not to collect electricity bills for the month of August from consumers in flood-affected areas. He said that federal and provincial institutions are making every effort for the rescue and rehabilitation of the victims, and that the government will not rest until the flood victims return to their homes.
On Saturday, the Prime Minister chaired an important meeting regarding electricity bills in the affected areas.
The Prime Minister instructed that the electricity bills of August 2025, already collected from flood-affected consumers, should be adjusted in the next month’s bills.
The Prime Minister further stated that after the conclusion of negotiations with the IMF, a comprehensive package regarding electricity bills for the affected areas would be formally announced. He added that floods have affected millions of people across Pakistan, and the government is making every possible effort to ease the suffering of the people in this difficult time.
The Prime Minister reiterated that federal and provincial institutions are fully engaged in rescue and rehabilitation efforts, and the government will not rest until the flood victims are safely back in their homes.
