SK Hydro Donates USD 20,000 for Flood-Hit Communities in KPK

Peshawar: SK Hydro (Private) Limited has donated USD 20,000 to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Fund to support post-disaster reconstruction in flood-affected areas surrounding the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project.

A donation ceremony was held in Peshawar, attended by the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Secretary Relief, Rehabilitation & Settlement Department, Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), and Deputy General Manager of SK Hydro.

The Chief Secretary expressed gratitude to SK Hydro for its continued commitment to corporate social responsibility, noting that the company played a crucial role in relief operations after the recent floods. He stated that the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project has emerged as a key contributor to Pakistan’s economic progress by providing clean, stable and reliable electricity. He further assured that all relevant government institutions would continue to support the project’s development and its contributions to green transformation and energy security.

Following the 2025 floods, SK Hydro immediately mobilized teams to repair roads, clear blocked waterways and restore access to affected areas. Employees from China and Pakistan also voluntarily donated PKR 1,275,200 to assist local families. The latest USD 20,000 contribution is aimed at accelerating rehabilitation, restoring livelihoods and normal economic activity in disaster-hit communities.

The company emphasized that these efforts reflect CEEC’s commitment to social responsibility and its role in promoting China-Pakistan friendship and cooperation.

Funded, constructed and operated by China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd, the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project has so far supplied over 3 billion kWh of clean electricity to Pakistan. Alongside stable power generation, the project continues to invest in the welfare of nearby communities. SK Hydro reiterated that it will remain actively engaged in supporting local economic and social development and contributing to long-term, high-quality growth in the region.
