SK Hydro (Private) Limited and Pakistan Army Conduct Free Medical Outreach at Suki Kinari Project Site

Mansehra: SK Hydro (Private) Limited, in collaboration with the Pakistan Army, organized a free medical outreach program near the Suki Kinari Hydropower Project site, extending essential healthcare services to residents of the surrounding communities. The initiative received widespread appreciation from local villagers, who have long faced limited access to medical facilities in the mountainous region of northwestern Pakistan.

The Suki Kinari Hydropower Project area, characterized by its rugged terrain and dispersed settlements, has long struggled with inadequate healthcare resources. Many residents must travel long distances for basic treatment. Recognizing these challenges, SK Hydro (Private) Limited partnered with a Pakistan Army medical unit to launch the temporary clinic, offering free consultations and medicines to local families.

Two experienced Army medical officers provided on-site diagnoses for common ailments such as influenza, eye infections, and joint pain, as well as chronic diseases including hypertension and gastritis. To ensure effective treatment, SK Hydro supplied over 100 varieties of essential medicines—including Amoxicillin, Azithromycin, Cephalosporin antibiotics, and eye drops—tailored to local health needs.

In addition to providing treatment, the medical team offered real-time medication guidance, health consultations, and public awareness sessions on hygiene and disease prevention. These efforts aimed to promote healthier lifestyles and improve community-level health awareness. More than 200 residents received free medical consultations and medicines on the opening day of the initiative. The outreach is expected to expand to other nearby communities in the coming weeks.

The Suki Kinari Hydropower Project, funded, constructed, and operated by China Energy Overseas Investment Co., Ltd., continues to uphold its commitment to social responsibility under the principle of “Extensive Consultation, Joint Contribution, and Shared Benefits.” Since the launch of its “Dreams Becoming Reality” CSR campaign in 2024, the project has supported local education, built a government service center in the Kaghan region, and donated USD 20,000 to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Flood Relief and Rehabilitation Fund.

This latest collaboration with the Pakistan Army not only strengthens the partnership between the project and local communities but also stands as a testament to the enduring “iron-clad friendship” between China and Pakistan—a friendship built on shared progress, mutual respect, and care for the people.
