Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin seeks to take full control of Donetsk and Luhansk in order to claim victory in the war.
Speaking after his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, Zelensky stated, “The message after this meeting is clear — we stand where we have always stood, firmly and consistently.”
Zelensky expressed readiness to attend a trilateral or diplomatic meeting in Budapest if invited, but noted that Budapest is “not the best place” for talks with President Putin.
The Ukrainian leader added that he will meet with several European leaders this week and already enjoys their full support. He also revealed that multiple funds and development programs will open in Ukraine following his U.S. visit.
Zelensky further stated that if Washington agrees to supply missiles, Ukraine is ready to provide drones in return. On the issue of Tomahawk missiles, he said President Trump does not want to escalate tensions with Russia.
