Shehbaz Sharif meets top Chinese business leaders to promote business-to-business investment between China and Pakistan.

Beijing: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, while expressing his commitment to providing a favorable business environment and facilitating industrial partnerships, said that industrial cooperation is a key pillar of economic cooperation between Pakistan and China and of high-quality development in the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

He stated that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is an important platform to accelerate investments, remove bottlenecks, and strengthen business-to-business cooperation.

He emphasized that increased Chinese investment in Special Economic Zones would not only contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth and job creation but also reinforce the vision of CPEC as a driver of regional development, innovation, and shared prosperity.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing on Wednesday, he expressed these views during a meeting with top Chinese business leaders in Beijing aimed at promoting business-to-business investment between China and Pakistan.

After attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Tianjin, the Prime Minister held high-level meetings in Beijing with senior executives of leading Chinese companies.

During these discussions, focus was placed on expanding cooperation in textiles, information technology, agriculture, industry, mining and minerals, road and digital connectivity, e-commerce, and space technologies, among other sectors.

During the meetings, the Prime Minister highlighted the comprehensive reform measures undertaken by the government to stabilize and strengthen Pakistan’s economy, which include tax incentives for investors, easy visa policies for Chinese citizens, and the establishment of dedicated booths at major airports to facilitate travel and business.

He further underscored Pakistan’s commitment to economic development through the SIFC, a key platform designed to accelerate investment, remove obstacles, and enhance business-to-business cooperation.

The Prime Minister stressed that industrial cooperation is fundamental to Pakistan-China economic cooperation and an important pillar of high-quality development in the second phase of CPEC. He invited Chinese companies to consider Pakistan as their preferred investment destination, particularly for relocating industries to Special Economic Zones. He noted that Pakistan offers a unique comparative advantage with skilled and low-cost labor, supply of low-cost raw materials to enhance competitiveness in industrial production, and strategic connectivity to regional and global markets.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif assured the Chinese business leaders that Pakistan is determined to provide a conducive business environment and facilitate industrial partnerships.

He added that enhanced Chinese investment in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones would not only contribute to the country’s economic growth and job creation but also strengthen the vision of CPEC as a driver of regional development, innovation, and shared prosperity.
