Prime Minister Pledge to Make Pakistan an Economic Power after Military Strength

London: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing Overseas Pakistanis in London, said that the historic victory of May 10 taught the enemy a lesson they would never forget. On this occasion, he congratulated Pakistanis living abroad and described them as the true ambassadors of the country.

The Prime Minister said, “Pakistan has proven itself as a great military power; now together we will make it an economic power.” Appreciating the contributions of Overseas Pakistanis, he noted that they had remitted $38.5 billion last year from their hard-earned income, which keeps the national economy moving.

He emphasized that the Kashmir issue remains the cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy, and without its resolution, normal relations with India are not possible. Pakistan desires peace, but on the basis of equality, and seeks serious dialogue on issues such as Kashmir, water, trade, and counterterrorism.

Highlighting the importance of the younger generation, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan’s youth are the nation’s greatest asset. “Sixty percent of our population consists of young people — a challenge but also an opportunity. If we equip them with IT, artificial intelligence, and vocational training, Pakistan can carve out a new identity in the world.”

He added that Pakistan’s recent success was the result of the bravery of the armed forces, the unity of leadership, and the unwavering resolve of the people. “The time has come for us to free ourselves from the burden of debt and adopt the path of self-reliance, so that Pakistan receives the respect it truly deserves in the world.”

The ceremony was also addressed by Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Qamar Raza.
