Beijing: US president Donald Trump held important talks with Xi Jinping during his official visit to China.
U.S. President was accorded a warm and grand welcome at the Great Hall of the People, where senior officials from both countries were also present.

During the meeting, President Xi Jinping said that the world is currently undergoing unprecedented transformations not seen in a century, while the international situation remains fluid and turbulent.
He stated that the global order has reached another critical crossroads where China and the United States must decide whether they can avoid the “Thucydides Trap” and establish a new model of major-country relations.

President Xi emphasized that cooperation between China and the United States is essential for addressing global challenges, maintaining world peace, and ensuring economic stability and the future of humanity.
He noted that the two countries share far more common interests than differences, and that the success of one nation can create opportunities for the other.

He further stated that China and the United States should be partners rather than rivals, enabling both nations to achieve shared prosperity and development.
President Xi expressed hope that the two leaders would engage in constructive discussions on key bilateral and global issues and jointly chart a new course for China-U.S. relations.

The Chinese President also said he hopes that 2026 will become a historic and landmark year in China-U.S. relations, opening a new chapter of cooperation between the two global powers.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump also described relations with China as highly important and stressed the need for enhanced cooperation in trade, economic development, and global stability.
Observers believe the visit marks a significant step toward improving ties between the world’s two largest economies.
