PM Shehbaz Sharif Holds Key Meetings with Chinese Companies to Boost CPEC and Investment Cooperation

Beijing: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held meetings with high-level delegations of renowned Chinese companies in Beijing, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further expanding cooperation in the economic, industrial, and infrastructure sectors under the second phase of CPEC.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office Media Wing on Tuesday, the Prime Minister met a delegation from Famsun led by the company’s Chief Executive Officer Zheng Jun Chen.

The Prime Minister appreciated Famsun’s long-standing services in Pakistan’s agricultural sector, particularly in grain storage, feed production, and food security.

Highlighting the reduction of post-harvest losses as one of the government’s priorities, the Prime Minister invited Famsun to benefit from the incentives offered under the Special Economic Zones and the Green Pakistan Initiative by establishing manufacturing and technology transfer facilities in Pakistan.

The Prime Minister also met Chairman Hou Jian Shen and his delegation from Shandong Xinshu Group Corporation and welcomed the group’s growing investment in Pakistan’s maritime sector, battery manufacturing, mineral processing, and industrial cooperation.

The Prime Minister praised Xinshu Group’s role in the Xinshu Special Economic Zone, the C2 Steel project at Port Qasim, and investments in Gwadar and the northern mineral sectors.

Reaffirming the Government of Pakistan’s full support for these strategic projects, he stressed the need for their fast-track implementation under the second phase of CPEC.

The Prime Minister also met Chairman Mr. Zhang Bingnan of China Communications Construction Company and senior representatives of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).

He appreciated these companies’ contributions over the past six decades to infrastructure development in Pakistan, especially landmark projects such as the Karakoram Highway and Rashakai Special Economic Zone.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to accelerating progress on ML-1, the realignment of the Karakoram Highway, and other connectivity projects under CPEC.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan considers CRBC a long-term strategic partner in modernizing infrastructure and promoting regional connectivity.

The Chinese companies expressed strong confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential and showed keen interest in increasing investments across various sectors, including agriculture, industrial production, logistics, infrastructure, and technology.

Federal ministers and senior government officials assisted the Prime Minister during these meetings and were directed to ensure effective and timely implementation of the decisions made during the business engagements
