Pakistan, Russia FMs Discuss Bilateral Ties, Regional Peace Efforts

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation at multilateral forums.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both leaders exchanged views on regional and global issues, reaffirming their commitment to promoting international peace and security through dialogue and diplomacy.

During the conversation, FM Lavrov appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States, highlighting Islamabad’s efforts in easing tensions in the region.

Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to continue supporting diplomatic initiatives aimed at peaceful conflict resolution, emphasizing the importance of sustained engagement and cooperation.

The two sides also discussed the rescheduling of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Russia at a mutually convenient date. Dar extended an invitation to Sergey Lavrov to visit Pakistan, which was welcomed as part of ongoing high-level exchanges.

Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact to further strengthen bilateral ties and coordination on key international issues.
