ISLAMABAD : Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday launched the Prime Minister’s Youth Laptop Scheme 2025, reaffirming his government’s commitment to empowering Pakistan’s youth through education, technology, and innovation.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Prime Minister said that in the modern era, AI, IT, and advanced skills are essential for national progress. He revealed that Saudi Arabia has offered free AI and IT training for Pakistani youth, adding that Pakistan will send a skilled workforce to the Kingdom under Vision 2030 and FIFA World Cup 2034 projects.
> “If 50 billion or even 500 billion rupees are spent on making our youth great Pakistanis, it’s worth it,” he said.
Shehbaz Sharif said 100,000 laptops are being distributed purely on merit across the country. Since 2011, around Rs. 40–50 billion have been spent on the scheme to promote digital access and learning.
The Prime Minister thanked Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for his economic support package, saying joint efforts in agriculture, mining, and IT will boost Pakistan’s economy.
He announced plans to send thousands of trained Pakistani youth to Saudi Arabia for upcoming mega projects, including Expo 2030 and the FIFA World Cup 2034.
Several students shared their success stories, calling the scheme life-changing, while the Prime Minister praised the efforts of Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and Attaullah Tarar for organizing the event.
Shehbaz Sharif pledged to continue investing in higher education and youth development, vowing to rebuild Pakistan in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Iqbal.
The event concluded with laptop distribution, a guard of honour, and a documentary screening on the youth programme.
