Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Among 26 Foreign Leaders Attended China’s Grand Military Parade

Beijing : A grand ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War was held at Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Wednesday.

The event featured a magnificent military parade. General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, Xi Jinping, delivered an important address and inspected the parade.

The theme of the ceremony was: “Remember history, honor the martyrs, cherish peace, and build the future.”

At the invitation of President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif along with 26 foreign heads of state and government attended the commemorative ceremony. At the invitation of the Chinese government, speakers of parliaments, deputy prime ministers, senior representatives, heads of international organizations, and former dignitaries from various countries also participated. In addition, foreign diplomats, military attachés, and representatives of international organizations in China, as well as 50 friends of China or their family members from 14 countries, including Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada, were invited to attend.

Eighty years ago, after 14 years of arduous struggle, the Chinese nation secured a great victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and declared complete triumph in the World Anti-Fascist War. During World War II, the Chinese people were the first to launch their resistance against Japanese aggression, and their struggle lasted the longest. With tremendous national sacrifices, they played a crucial role on the main Eastern battlefield of the global anti-fascist war, making historic contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War.
