Sharjah: Pakistan beats Afghanistan in a one-sided contest in the Tri-Series final to lift the trophy.
In the decisive clash, Pakistan thrashed Afghanistan by 75 runs, securing the Tri-Series title in dominant fashion. Chasing a modest target of 142, Afghanistan’s batting lineup collapsed for just 66 runs. Mohammad Nawaz was the star performer with the ball, taking a sensational hat-trick and finishing with 5 wickets for 19 runs in his 4-over spell.
Nine Afghan batters failed to reach double figures, with only captain Rashid Khan (17) and Sediqullah Atal (13) offering some resistance. Darwish Rasooli, Azmatullah, and Karim Janat were dismissed without scoring. Nawaz, who not only picked up a hat-trick but also contributed with the bat, was named Player of the Match for his outstanding all-round performance.
Earlier, batting first, Pakistan posted 141 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. The Green Shirts struggled against Afghanistan’s spinners, with no batter managing to cross the 30-run mark. Fakhar Zaman top-scored with 27 runs, while all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz added 25. Captain Salman Ali Agha contributed 24 runs, including two sixes in a single over against Rashid Khan, while opener Saim Ayub scored 17 and Faheem Ashraf made 15.
For Afghanistan, skipper Rashid Khan picked up 3 wickets for 38 runs, while spinner Noor Ahmad and pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi claimed 2 wickets each.
