New York: Chinese President Xi Jinping has said that the growing challenges caused by climate change are a reality, and developed countries must take comprehensive measures to reduce carbon emissions.
Addressing the Climate Summit convened by UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the President of Brazil on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, President Xi Jinping said that the challenges posed by climate change are a reality and that developed countries should take comprehensive steps to reduce carbon emissions. He stressed that collective measures must be taken to tackle the situation arising from climate change.
He stated that alternative energy and green energy must be promoted, adding that China will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 7 to 10 percent by 2035. He affirmed that China is determined to fulfill its global responsibilities.
Xi Jinping further said that China has promoted environment-friendly alternative energy, and according to the Paris Agreement, all parties must take action.
