Beijing: President Xi Jinping on Tuesday attended a grand reception in Beijing to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and delivered an important speech, highlighting the country’s historic achievements, future vision, and commitment to global cooperation.

According to a statement issued by China’s Foreign Ministry, President Xi reflected on the nation’s remarkable journey from overcoming existential crises to achieving national rejuvenation. “It has been a journey filled with challenges and hardships, yet also a forward march with confidence, leading China from one victory to another,” he said. He stressed the need to draw inspiration from past struggles, honor the contributions of previous generations and fallen heroes, and continue advancing China’s development with greater determination.

Reviewing progress made this year, Xi noted that despite complex global and domestic challenges, China had deepened reforms, promoted high-quality development, improved people’s livelihoods, and strengthened governance of the Communist Party. “New achievements have been made across all endeavors of the Party and the country,” he remarked.

Looking ahead, Xi underlined the significance of the upcoming Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, scheduled for October, where recommendations for formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) will be discussed and adopted. He emphasized the need to focus on the Party’s central task in the new era, advance socialist modernization, and ensure successful implementation of strategic objectives.

On global affairs, Xi stressed that in a world undergoing changes unseen in a century, China would continue to champion the common values of humanity and practice true multilateralism. He reaffirmed China’s commitment to advancing the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, Global Civilization Initiative, and Global Governance Initiative, calling for joint efforts with all nations to build a community with a shared future for mankind.
