Shehbaz Sharif Leaves for Sharm El-Sheikh to Attend Gaza Peace Accord Ceremony

Lahore: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has departed for Sharm El-Sheikh to attend the signing ceremony of the historic Gaza Peace Agreement, following a special invitation extended by U.S. President Donald Trump and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The Prime Minister will represent Pakistan at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, which aims to secure a lasting ceasefire in Gaza. He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar.

At the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will join U.S. President Donald Trump, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and other global leaders for the formal signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement.

The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit is the culmination of sustained diplomatic efforts launched during the United Nations General Assembly by President Trump, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and several Arab and Islamic leaders to end hostilities in Gaza.

Earlier, through a joint communiqué, Pakistan and other participating nations had welcomed President Trump’s initiative for a ceasefire in Gaza, long-term peace, and regional development.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s participation in the summit underscores Pakistan’s consistent stance in support of the Palestinian cause and its commitment to extending political and diplomatic backing to the people of Palestine.

Pakistan hopes that the signing of the Gaza Peace Agreement will bring an end to the ongoing violence, lead to the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, ensure the safe return of displaced Palestinians, guarantee the release of detainees, and pave the way for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the war-torn territory.

According to the official statement, Pakistan remains optimistic that these developments will revive the long-standing dream of durable peace in the Middle East and ultimately result in the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine — with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital — in line with United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
