Beijing: Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya in Beijing, reaffirming China’s commitment to deepening bilateral economic and development cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
During the meeting, Premier Li expressed China’s readiness to expand two-way trade and investment with Sri Lanka and to accelerate progress on major projects, including the comprehensive development of Colombo Port City and the Hambantota Port.
He highlighted that China is keen to work closely with Sri Lanka in emerging sectors such as green development, the digital economy, modern agriculture, and the marine economy, aiming to foster mutual benefit and shared prosperity.
Prime Minister Amarasuriya appreciated China’s long-standing support and reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening its strategic partnership with Beijing, particularly through enhanced cooperation in trade, infrastructure, and sustainable development.
