Industrial and Agricultural Sectors to Get Additional Electricity at Rs. 22.98 per Unit

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has announced the Roshan Maeeshat (Bright Economy) Power Package aimed at promoting growth in Pakistan’s industrial and agricultural sectors.

The announcement was made during a meeting with a delegation comprising experts from the industrial and agricultural sectors as well as representatives of the business community.

Under the package, industries and farmers will be provided additional electricity at subsidized rates for the next three years — from November 2025 to October 2028.

The Prime Minister stated that the cost of electricity currently being provided to the industrial sector at Rs. 34 per unit and to the agricultural sector at Rs. 38 per unit would be significantly reduced, and additional units will be supplied.

For the next three years, both industrial and agricultural consumers will receive additional electricity at a rate of Rs. 22.98 per unit throughout the year.

The Prime Minister emphasized that the cost of electricity supplied under the Roshan Maeeshat Power Package would not be borne by domestic consumers or any other sector. He appreciated the efforts of Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Leghari, and his team for preparing this package. He said that the development of the industrial and agricultural sectors is essential for the country’s economic growth and job creation.

He further stated that the government is taking all possible measures to enhance regional competitiveness and improve the business environment for local industries and the agricultural sector. During the previous winter season, the package introduced for these sectors resulted in the consumption of 410 gigawatts of additional electricity, which kept the industrial wheel running, boosted exports, and created employment opportunities.

The Prime Minister said that although the journey from economic crisis to stability has been challenging, it has been made possible through the dedication of the economic team and the cooperation of all stakeholders. “Once the industrial and agricultural sectors progress, the country will be able to free itself from the burden of loans,” he remarked.

He added that, by the grace of Allah and due to sound policies, economic indicators have improved, but there is still more work to be done collectively.

Concluding his remarks, the Prime Minister expressed firm belief that with the cooperation of all stakeholders and the tireless efforts of the economic team, Pakistan will soon achieve economic self-sufficiency.
