President Asif Ali Zardari Meets Hunan Leadership, Emphasizes Strengthening Pakistan-China Ties

Changsha: President Asif Ali Zardari held meetings with the Party Secretary of China’s Hunan Province, Shen Xiaoming, and Governor Mao Weiming, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening Pakistan-China relations and enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors.


During the meetings, detailed discussions were held on promoting cooperation in agriculture, healthcare, education, and trade. Both sides agreed to expand bilateral relations and give new momentum to their strategic partnership.

The President stated that Pakistan-China relations are a cornerstone of Pakistan’s foreign policy and span generations.

He emphasized that the people of both countries share deep-rooted ties and that their hearts beat in unison.


President Asif Ali Zardari appreciated Hunan’s expertise in agricultural technology and equipment, terming it highly suitable for enhancing Pakistan’s agricultural and industrial productivity.

He also stressed the need to expand bilateral trade in various sectors.


The Hunan leadership informed that universities in the province have signed 12 cooperation agreements with Pakistani institutions, while 959 Pakistani students are currently studying in various fields in Hunan.

The Governor described Pakistan-China friendship as exemplary.


The President also attended a banquet hosted by Governor Mao Weiming. On the occasion, he noted that Hunan holds special significance as the birthplace of Mao Zedong, adding that the philosophy “power flows from the people” is deeply respected in Pakistan.


During his visit to Changsha, the President also toured Hunan Tea Group Company Limited, where he was briefed on the company’s operations, supply chain, and access to international markets. Chairman Zhu Zhongwang provided insights into tea cultivation, processing, research, and marketing.


The briefing highlighted that eco-friendly tea gardens, modern production facilities, and an integrated distribution system are designed to support both domestic sales and exports.

The company also serves as a comprehensive platform linking farmers, industry, and research institutions with branding and market access.

President Asif Ali Zardari appreciated the potential for cooperation in value addition, agro-processing, and export promotion, and invited the company to explore partnership opportunities with Pakistan in various sectors.


He also visited the company’s historical gallery and observed a presentation on tea processing and culture. A special tea session was arranged in his honor.

The President was accompanied by Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Ali Hassan Brohi, Special Assistant Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, and the Chief Secretary Sindh, along with other senior officials. Pakistan’s Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi and China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong were also present.
