Beijing :The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Monday confirmed that leaders of China and the United States are maintaining close communication and exchanges, with the possibility of a meeting during the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders’ summit.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said head-of-state diplomacy plays an “irreplaceable role” in providing strategic guidance for China-U.S. relations, stressing that the two leaders remain in close contact.
Addressing questions on TikTok-related issues, Guo reiterated that China’s stance is clear. He emphasized that the Chinese government respects corporate independence and supports companies in conducting business negotiations based on market principles. “China seeks solutions that comply with laws and regulations while balancing the interests of all parties,” Guo said.
The spokesperson also urged Washington to ensure a level playing field for Chinese firms. “We hope the U.S. will provide an open, fair, and non-discriminatory business environment for Chinese enterprises investing in the United States,” Guo added.
