Dar paid rich tribute to the courage and resilience of the Kashmiri people

Islamabad :Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar paid rich tribute to the courage and resilience of the Kashmiri people, reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering support for their just struggle for self-determination.

In his message on Kashmir Black Day, he said October 27, 1947, marked the darkest day in the history of South Asia when Indian forces illegally entered Srinagar and occupied Jammu and Kashmir. For the past 78 years, the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have endured brutal repression under Indian occupation forces.

Dar said the UN Security Council resolutions clearly state that the final disposition of Jammu and Kashmir must be decided through a free and impartial plebiscite under UN supervision. However, India continues to defy these resolutions and maintain its occupation through force and coercion.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan remains fully committed to the sanctity and centrality of these UN resolutions and consistently urges the international community to play its role in ensuring a just and lasting settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Highlighting the illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, Dar said India’s revocation of Kashmir’s special status, enforcement of draconian laws, issuance of domiciles to non-residents, demographic engineering, and imprisonment of Kashmiri leaders were all gross violations of international law, including the UN Charter and the Fourth Geneva Convention.

Expressing deep concern over the recent crackdown in IIOJK following the Pahalgam incident, Dar condemned arbitrary arrests, detentions, interrogations, and demolition of civilian homes by Indian forces. He said these human rights violations have been documented by UN bodies and global human rights organizations.

Despite all hardships, he said, the Kashmiri people’s struggle remains a shining example of courage, dignity, and steadfastness, reminding the world of their inalienable right to self-determination.

Referring to the recent Pakistan-India tensions, Dar warned that India’s intransigence and disregard for international law posed serious threats to regional peace and stability.

He urged the international community to take concrete steps to alleviate the suffering of the Kashmiri people and to ensure implementation of UN resolutions.

Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment, he said, “Pakistan will continue to extend political, moral, and diplomatic support to the Kashmiri people and raise their voice for self-determination at every international forum.”
