Islamabad: The government has significantly increased the prices of petroleum products.
According to the notification, the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel have been raised by Rs 26.77 per liter.
Following the increase, the new price of petrol has been set at Rs 393.35 per liter, while high-speed diesel is now priced at Rs 380.19 per liter.
According to the official statement, the new prices have come into effect immediately. Sources say that the increase was unavoidable due to fluctuations in global crude oil prices and the depreciation of the local currency.
Experts believe that this hike in petroleum prices is likely to lead to an increase in transport fares, food items, and other essential commodities, which may further push up the inflation rate.
