New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to respond to recent comments made by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding India and Pakistan.
Rahul Gandhi said President Trump was “publicly embarrassing” Prime Minister Modi during his visits abroad, the latest instance being at the APEC Summit in South Korea. “Don’t be afraid, Modi ji — have the courage to reply to Trump’s repeated claims,” he stated in a post on social media.
At the APEC meeting, President Trump reportedly said that he was addressing India-Pakistan issues “through trade” and also mentioned that “seven aircraft had been shot down.”
Rahul Gandhi’s remarks have sparked fresh political debate, with the opposition accusing the government of remaining silent on Trump’s controversial statements concerning India’s sovereignty and regional affairs.
