Beijing:Worker representatives from China’s vital industries, including automotive, shipping, and manufacturing, shared their excitement and hopes for the nation’s future before joining 50,000 spectators in Beijing for the V-Day commemorations.
A grand gathering with a military parade the was held on Wednesday morning in Beijing’s Tian’anmen Square to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Yang Yongxiu, a chief technician of China First Automobile Group based in Changchun City of northeast China’s Jilin Province, said, “As a technical worker at FAW’s Hongqi factory, it’s a tremendous collective honor to attend this military parade. My child said to me, ‘Dad, since you’re going to Tiananmen Square to attend this event, you should cheer extra loud for everyone.”
Ai Aiguo, a welding technical consultant from Xiangtan Iron and Steel Group in south China’s Hunan Province, said, “As frontline workers, being able to attend such a big event shows how much the party and the country value and care for people like us. I always tell my apprentices to cherish the good times we live in. Our country is thriving.”
Zhang Liangang, chief scientist of Shandong Port Group in east China’s Shangdong Province, said, “More than eight decades ago, countless heroes built a line of defense with their own flesh and blood to protect our nation. The ground on which we stand today has since been transformed, from a frontline of national defense to an open gateway where our nation connects with and embraces the world. Our predecessors gave their lives for the independence and sovereignty of this land. It is now our mission to use technology and ingenuity to keep our economic lifeline flowing and to make our borders safer, more efficient, and smarter than ever before.”
