Washington: Gunfire was heard during the annual dinner of the White House Correspondents’ Association, causing panic, after which U.S. President Donald Trump was immediately moved to a secure location.

The incident occurred at a well-known hotel in Washington, where hundreds of journalists, government officials, and prominent figures were in attendance.
According to eyewitnesses, as soon as the sound of gunfire was heard, chaos erupted in the hall and people hid under tables to save their lives, while security personnel responded swiftly.

According to U.S. media reports, the attacker has been killed, while the BBC reported that a suspect has also been taken into custody. However, initial reports indicate that no participants were injured.
At the time of the incident, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, along with several other senior officials, were also present at the event and were later moved to secure locations.

It is noteworthy that the same venue has witnessed a major incident in the past as well, when former U.S. President Ronald Reagan was shot in an assassination attempt there in 1981.

Shortly after the incident, President Donald Trump addressed an emergency press conference, expressing satisfaction over the swift response of security agencies and ordering a full investigation into the incident.
