Washington: US President Donald Trump has cancelled the planned visit of an American negotiation team to Pakistan.

According to international media reports, Fox News claimed that the US President stopped the delegation from traveling to Islamabad.

The decision came after Iranian Foreign Minister left Islamabad for Oman without holding meetings.

US President stated that the delegation cannot be sent on an 18-hour journey for unproductive or meaningless discussions. He added that Iran can contact the US directly whenever it wants.

Donald Trump also said that, in the current tensions with Iran, the United States holds a stronger diplomatic position.

He clarified that the cancellation of the visit does not mean a move toward war, and no final decision has been made in that regard.

According to him, there are internal disagreements within the Iranian leadership, and at times it is unclear who is actually in control.
