Prime Minister to Attend Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt Tomorrow

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will undertake a visit to Egypt tomorrow.

He will attend the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit and participate in the signing ceremony of a peace agreement aimed at ending the grave humanitarian situation in Gaza.

The invitation for this visit was extended to him by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar, along with other senior ministers, will accompany the Prime Minister.

The Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit is the culmination of diplomatic efforts initiated during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York last month. On 23 September, the Prime Minister had participated in a meeting chaired by the United States, which brought together the leaders of Arab and Islamic countries including Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, and Türkiye to discuss prospects for peace in Gaza.

Subsequently, these countries issued a joint declaration appreciating President Trump’s peace efforts and reaffirming their commitment to cooperate with the United States in achieving a comprehensive and sustainable ceasefire, as well as addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The Prime Minister’s participation in the summit reflects Pakistan’s historic and steadfast support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and their just cause.
